Pilot Killed in Sheboygan County Airplane Crash Identified

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office has released the name
of the man killed in an airplane crash Friday evening near the Sheboygan County
Airport. 50-year-old Martin Tibbitts from Gross Pointe, Michigan was killed on
impact when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff. Authorities say the plane
crashed into some farm buildings near the airport, injuring two workers inside
and killing 40 farm animals. It is unclear if the airplane was heading to EAA
AirVenture at the time of the crash. 14 fire departments were called to the scene,
along with the Sheboygan Falls and Kohler Police Departments, Wisconsin State
Patrol and Wisconsin DNR. The National
Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
