Pioneer Road Project Underway

Residents will be living with the second phase of the Pioneer Road project in Fond du Lac until November. Work is underway for the $5.5 million project that will improve Pioneer Road from Hickory Street to north of Rogersville Road. Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says it will include a roundabout at County Highway VV or Pioneer Road at Military Road. The main entrance to Mercury Marine will also be changed to a signalized intersection, which Janke says should also improve safety. He says right now when there are shift changes at Mercury there is an influx of heavy traffic on Pioneer Road. He says when it is done the road will be safer and more convenient, but during construction for people getting and doing business in the area it will be challenging. He says that stretch of Pioneer Road will be closed to through traffic, but if you have business you will be able to get to those businesses.
