Plane reportedly runs off runway at Fond du Lac County Airport

At 7:05 PM Friday, February 23, the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call that a single engine plane ran off the runway at the Fond du Lac County Airport while trying to avoid a deer. The Town Of Fond du Lac Fire Department was paged to the scene but was soon cancelled as it was learned that the mishap occurred around sunset.

According to an officer on scene, the plane suffered a prop strike on the ground and the landing gear collapsed when it went off the runway. It was also noted there were two people on board at the time of the incident.

The FAA was being notified.

According to the website Flightaware.com, the plane is owned by Southern Aviation INC. and arrived at the Fond du Lac County Airport at 5:10 PM after leaving the Goshen Municipal Airport in Indiana.
