Playground Equipment Destroyed In Fire Will Be Replaced At Park
A fire that was intentionally set back on December 21, 2020, destroyed playground equipment at Lakeside Park. Now, thanks to a collaborative effort, between Agnesian HealthCare Foundation and Lakeside Forward, $40,000 has been donated to rebuild the playground.
“The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation has always been a proud supporter of community-based initiatives that bring close-to-home opportunities for local residents and their families to live healthier lives and build strong foundations that encourage active lifestyles,” Shawn Fisher, Executive Director, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation, said. “When we learned of this tragic loss, we were eager to step up and help the community regain this treasure for our families and their children. We have seen that during the COVID-19 pandemic that outdoor activities are playing a vital role in maintaining a healthy and safe lifestyle. We are glad that this new playground area will help to fulfill this and many other goals.”
With a belief that every child deserves a place to play, feel exhilarated, and experience new environments, the new, enhanced equipment will be safe and include all-ability pieces; ensuring accessibility and sensory benefits, thus creating an inclusive play space.
“Lakeside Park is a place for everyone.” Sadie Parafiniuk, President/CEO, Envision Greater Fond du Lac and member of Lakeside Forward, said. “Recreating this area of the park is one small gesture to ensure children of all ages and abilities will have a safe place to play.”
The donation to the effort resonates with each representing organization’s mission. Together, the two partners look to support the community in healthy ways, realizing the full potential of the Park.
