Powerball Lottery Tops $1 Billion

The Powerball jackpot will again rise to the $1 billion mark after no winning ticket was sold for the latest drawing last night. Mondays jackpot was already up to $900 million.

The new jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing would be the seventh highest in U.S. history and the third largest for Powerball. Wednesday’s jackpot would be worth $516.8 million if the winner chose the winnings as a one-time lump sum after taxes.

The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was April 19th. That prize was for almost $253 million. Since then, the grand prize has eluded a winner for 38 consecutive drawings.
