Probable cause found against man who set fire to Fond du Lac home, injuring teen

A Fond du Lac County judge has found probable cause in a case against a Menasha man who set fire to his girlfriend’s City of Fond du Lac home back in September of last year.

The incident left a 16-year-old girl severely injured after she had to jump out of a second-story window to escape the fire.

Court documents show that 61-year-old Michael Perez and his girlfriend, who lived on the bottom floor of the duplex on Packer Street, were having problems and Perez was upset.

He waited until she and her friend left before using a gasoline can to set the house on fire, not knowing the 16-year-old girl was upstairs sleeping.

Perez remains in custody on a $750,000 cash bond.
