Rienzi Cemetery Hosts Memorial Day Remembrance

(Fond du Lac) The public is invited to a “Reading of the Veteran’s Roll” today at 2 p.m., at Rienzi Cemetery.

The event will be held on the front steps of Rienzi’s historic Memorial Home and will begin with a welcome from Lee Uecker, Rienzi family lot owner.

Immediately following the welcome, volunteers will alternate reading the names of all known veterans buried at Rienzi Cemetery. “We have over 1,100 known veterans buried at Rienzi and this is the time to give them the recognition they deserve,” noted Rae Nell Halbur, Rienzi family service counselor.

Upon completion of the reading of the roll the Trier-Puddy Post 75 American Legion will fire a three volley of shots honoring the deceased veterans.

Some seating will be provided but visitors are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Water and snacks will be provided in the Memorial Home.

Rienzi Cemtery is located 2 miles south of State Road 23 on County Road K, east of Fond du Lac.
