Ripon boys varsity basketball coach charged with 5 felonies in sexual misconduct with a student case

More details have come out in the case of the Ripon Boys basketball coach that was arrested Tuesday, November 12, 2024, for an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Mihai Schnell-Harrison was in Fond du Lac County Court Friday, November 15, 2024, and has been charged with five felonies which include, sexual assault of student by school staff, child enticement, exposing genitals, possession of child pornography and exposing a child to harmful material.

According to the criminal complaint, Harrison had been inappropriately communicating with a 16 year old student at the school over the social media app snap chat. After about a month, the victim stated the messages started to get sexually graphic and Harrison asked several times to have the girl meet up with him at a hotel, to which the 16 year old never agreed to.
The complaint says the two did have a sexual encounter in the school parking lot on November 6th.

Harrison had been the head coach of the boys varsity team for one year, but had served as an assistant coach at the school in 2016 before going to work at other schools such as Waupun and Appleton East.

Harrison’s cash bond was set at $150,000 and he is due back in court on November 22nd for a Preliminary hearing.
