Ripon Common Council Mull Over Future Of Akin Street

The Ripon Common Council is considering what to do about a street that people are using as a shortcut with the closing of the Tygert Street Bridge. City Administrator Lori Rich says Akin Street is a narrow unapproved street that is more of an alleyway, but it is paved. It’s just east of the bridge. She says they have put in a speed bump in to slow down traffic, but neighbors are concerned with the speed of the traffic for a street that wasn’t meant to be one. She says it is right next to a park and kids walk along it. She says the Council is considering whether to close the street off and give it back to the neighbors for use as a driveway.
