Ripon Man Charged For Standoff With Police

Bond was set at $500 cash for a 46-year-old Ripon man involved in a standoff with police last Saturday night. Shawn Oakes made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Court Thursday morning. He is charged with failing to comply with an officer and disorderly conduct by use of a dangerous weapon. He was seen walking through a home in the 600 block of Abbey Court with a firearm while police were negotiating with him. A woman who was initially in the home with Oakes told police he was intoxicated and making suicidal threats. She was able to get out of the home while police were still talking with him. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, February 24th.
