Riverside Elementary earns state recognition for academic achievement, student growth

On June 5, 2025, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction named Riverside Elementary School a 2023-24 Wisconsin School of Recognition, honoring Riverside’s dedication to student growth and achievement.
Riverside received the award in the High Impact category. This distinction is based on a rigorous set of criteria, including academic performance, measurable progress in student growth or graduation rates, reducing achievement gaps – particularly among students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their commitment to excellence,” said Jessica Hughes, Riverside Principal. “This recognition reflects the hard work and support of our entire learning community — including educators, families and our scholars.”
The Wisconsin Schools of Recognition program honors Title I schools that demonstrate success in educating each and every student, particularly those experiencing poverty. After a pause during the COVID-19 pandemic, the DPI resumed the awards for the 2023-24 school year to continue celebrating schools that make a lasting impact.
“We are honored that Riverside is being recognized for the dedication and commitment to serving our community and our students,” said Matt Steinbarth, Fond du Lac School Superintendent. “Riverside is an example of the great work our educators and students do in partnership with the entire Fond du Lac community. We are changing outcomes for our kids, and we are happy to do it together.”
