Roadway Fire In FDL

Friday afternoon Fond du Lac Firefighters responded to a report of a burning garbage pile in a roadway. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says a Waste Management recycling truck was on Highway 151 heading towards their main terminal on Hickory Street when the driver saw smoke coming from the load. When he saw flames he turned off onto Larsen Drive and dumped the load onto the roadway and called 911. When fire crews arrived they extinguished the blaze. Additional Waste Management personnel and equipment also responded to clean the debris from the roadway. No one was injured. Fond du Lac Police assisted with traffic control.
