School Flu Vaccination Clinics
The Fond du Lac County Health Department is already preparing for the flu immunization clinics they hold in schools across the County each fall. County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says getting the vaccinations are optional and they need to get permission from a child’s parents or guardians first, which is why permission slips will be sent home with kids over the next month. Forms will also be available on school websites. The clinics in the schools are free thanks to funding from the state for emergency preparedness. Mueller says the state recommends working with communities on such efforts and provides the funding to accomplish that. Health Department nurses go into all 55 schools in the County during the fall to vaccinate children.
