Scott Street gets lane closure this week while summer construction season continues for some projects
The City of Fond du Lac Department of Public Works is advising the motoring public of the westbound lane restriction on West Scott Street between Monmouth Street and Madison Street.
Scott Street will remain open to traffic in both directions; however, the westbound lane will be restricted to one lane. This lane restriction started yesterday and is expected to last through the end of week. The restriction will be in place to allow a private contractor to remove trees on the north side of Scott Street in the area.
While fall is in full swing and the summer construction season is coming to an end, there are still six major projects still taking place.
Promen Drive Bridge Replacement
Schedule: June 16 through November 7
Description: In partnership with the WI Department of Transportation the project includes replacing the existing bridge structure and approaches.
October 27 to October 31: The contractor will continue concrete paving and will restack wall northeast of bridge.
Traffic Impacts: Promen Drive Bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic within Lakeside Park.
Cottage Avenue – E. Division Street to Maple Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
October 27 to October 31: The electrical contractor will complete conduit installation early in the week. There is a possibility for curb and gutter work to begin late in the week.
Traffic Impacts: Cottage Avenue is closed to traffic from E. Division Street to Maple Avenue. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades.
Oaklawn Avenue – E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
October 27 to October 31: The utility contractor will finish storm main and lateral installation.
Traffic Impacts: Oaklawn Avenue is closed to through traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades.

October 27 to October 31: Road Excavation contractor will continue cutting road to grade and placing aggregate. Electrical Contractor will begin installing conduit.
Traffic Impacts: E. Merrill Avenue is closed to traffic from Cottage Avenue to DeNeveu Creek. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
South Street – Linden Street to S. Main Street
Schedule: October through November
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
October 27 to October 31: The Utility Contractor will finish installing water main. Then begin Storm sewer catch basin installation.
Traffic Impacts: South Street is closed to traffic from Linden Street to S. Main Street. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
W. 11th Street – Linden Street to S. Main Street
Schedule: October through November
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
October 27 to October 31: The Utility Contractor will begin installing water main mid-week. They will hen begin Storm sewer catch basin installation.
Traffic Impacts: South Street is closed to traffic from Linden Street to S. Main Street. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
