Second Teen Not Expected to Survive As A Result Of Crash

The family of a teen severely injured in a single vehicle crash in Fond du Lac County early Saturday morning says the boy is not expected to survive.

While no official word has come from the sheriff’s department, a social media post from the parents said the boy is expected to pass but is artificially being kept alive until organs can be harvested for transplants. Online posts from multiple area businesses are also reporting funeral fundraisers for two of the teens that were involved in the crash.

A third teen that was in the back seat suffered non life threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital that morning.

An immense outpouring of support and sympathy has come from the community for the local teens.

All three were 16 years old and each attended a different area high school. Fond du Lac, St. Mary’s Springs and Laconia. Counselors have been on hand at local schools and sporting events this weekend and will continue to be at the schools in the coming days.

According to the sheriff’s department, the vehicle the teens were in crashed into a tree on Golf Course Drive between Taft and Tower Roads in the Town of Tycheedah around 3:30 AM Saturday.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department as well as Mt Calvary Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene.

The first officer on scene confirmed one person was deceased and the second was in critical condition and pinned in the vehicle.

Theda Star Medical Helicopter out of Neenah was requested for the critically injured patient. He is the boy that passed away Sunday sometime.

Speed and alcohol are considered to be factors in the crash according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.
