Sen. Dan Feyen Recognized as a WEDA Champion of Economic Development

The Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) recently presented state Sen. Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac) with its Champion of Economic Development Award for his leadership during the 2025-26 Wisconsin Legislative Session on key legislation to boost economic growth. His efforts at the State Capitol will help promote local housing development, strengthen Wisconsin’s workforce, and drive community revitalization across the state. The award was presented to Feyen at a local business event at the Hotel Retlaw in Fond du Lac, WI.

“Recognizing Sen. Feyen with the WEDA Champion of Economic Development Award was an easy decision. His work on key policies and programs to encourage economic growth in Wisconsin speaks for itself, and we were excited to thank him for his efforts,” said Michael Welsh, WEDA V.P. of Legislative Affairs. “The legislation he authored and moved through the process during the 2025-26 session will have a real impact across Wisconsin. Thanks to his work, communities will have access to new policy tools to help address challenging workforce issues, including housing and childcare, and provide opportunities for growth and prosperity for Wisconsin businesses and families.”

Feyen earned WEDA’s Champion of Economic Development Award for his efforts on legislation to address the state’s biggest economic challenges and provide communities with the tools to drive local economic activity. His work on critical legislative proposals included the creation of a new childcare tax credit, the improvement of local financing tools for residential infrastructure and housing development, and key incentives for main street revitalization and community development.

“I am honored to receive WEDA’s Champion of Economic Development Award. Wisconsin’s success depends on strong communities, a skilled workforce, and opportunities for businesses and families to grow,” said Feyen. The legislation we advanced this session provides local communities with additional tools to address housing, childcare, and workforce challenges while promoting economic growth across our state. I appreciate WEDA’s recognition and look forward to continuing to support policies that strengthen Wisconsin’s economy and create opportunities for future generations.”

Feyen, who was first elected to the Wisconsin Senate in 2016, is the current Senate Assistant Majority Leader and serves on several key committees, including his role as chairman of the Senate Government Operations, Labor and Economic Development Committee. He currently represents the 20th Senate District, which spans numerous eastern Wisconsin counties, including Washington, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac counties. The district includes the cities of Fond du Lac and West Bend.
