Sheboygan man hit and killed on I-43 in Sheboygan County

Authorities in Sheboygan County are investigating what led up to a man being struck and killed by a semi Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2026 on I-43.

Just after 4 p.m., the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call advising of a semi versus pedestrian crash on Interstate 43 northbound, South of Garton Rd, about two miles east of Howards Grove.

Preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a Ford Explorer had pulled over to the side of Interstate 43 South of Garton Road and exited his vehicle. At this time, the man was struck by a passing semi tractor trailer that was also northbound on Interstate 43.

The 48-year-old man from Sheboygan, was declared deceased on scene despite life saving measures attempted by deputies and emergency personnel from Orange Cross Ambulance, Howards Grove and Haven Fire Departments.

The northbound lanes of I-43 were closed for almost three hours while police investigated the scene.
