Six more weeks of winter? Punxsutawney Phil says so after seeing shadow

Punxsutawney Phil, the beloved groundhog in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania known as the official groundhog for Groundhogs Day, saw his shadow yesterday, February 2, 2025, which tradition says scares him back into his burrow for another six weeks of winter, as opposed to an early arrival of Spring if he doesn’t see the shadow.

The weather forecasting folklore event has taken place every year since its birth in 1887. With this winter being overall dry and mild, six more weeks may not be all that bad.
