Sophies Challenge

There’s a sad tale to tell about KFIZ’s Pet of the Week. Shelter Manager Renee Webb says when the cat Sophie came in to the Fond du Lac Humane Society Shelter she was in rough shape. She had lameness in a front leg and fractured teeth on her left side. She says when Sophie was taken to a veterinary clinic x-rays revealed she had been shot and some of the fragments of the bullet are still in her leg. The Animal Wellness Center of Fond du Lac offered to take care of Sophie, but she will have to have the leg amputated. Webb says the surgery is in a couple of days and after that she will move into a foster home where she will recuperate and learn to function on three legs.
