Women’s College Basketball: North Carolina 72, Wisconsin 59

NBA: Milwaukee 111, Brooklyn 93. Giannis Antetokounmpo with 23 points, Jabari Parker had 22 in the win. The two teams play again in Milwaukee Saturday afternoon.

Thursday Night Football: Dallas 17, Minnesota 15. Minnesota failed on a two point conversion that would have tied the game with 29 seconds left. Dallas has now won 11 straight games. Minnesota falls to 6-6.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder. Coach John Fox announced Thursday that the veteran quarterback will have an operation to repair the labrum in his shoulder. The procedure is scheduled for Saturday. Cutler injured his shoulder during a loss to the New York Giants on Nov. 20 but finished the game. Matt Barkley figures to start his second straight game when the Bears (2-9) host San Francisco (1-10) in a matchup between struggling teams on Sunday.

Indiana football coach Kevin Wilson abruptly resigned Thursday, less than a week after the Hoosiers became bowl-eligible for the second straight season.Athletic director Fred Glass made the announcement during a hastily arranged news conference. He said defensive coordinator Tom Allen would be the permanent replacement, effective immediately.

Glass said the decision was made because of “philosophical differences.”

Women’s College Volleyball: Wisconsin swept Howard 3-0 in opening round play of the NCAA Tournament held at the UW Field House in Madison. The Badgers will face Washington State tonight. The Cougars got by Marquette 3-1.
