Division 4 Sectional Semifinal:

Howards Grove 48, St. Mary’s Springs 41

–Anja Smith scored 21 points to lead the Ledgers who saw a late lead slip away against Howards Grove in the sectional semifinal game at West Bend.

Division 3 Sectional Semifinal:

Waupun 62, Columbus 52

–Waupun advances to the sectional championship game Saturday afternoon against Martin Luther. The game will be played at Waukesha South with a 1pm start time.

Men’s College Basketball:

Iowa 59, Wisconsin 57

–Iowa’s Jordan Bohannon drained a three pointer with nine seconds left as the Hawkeyes rallied from down nine points to defeat Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin led 56-47 with 3:46 to play, but Iowa closed the game on a 12-1 run to earn their first victory over the Badgers since 2013. Bronson Koenig scored 19 points, Zak Showalter and Ethan Happ each had 11 and Nigel Hayes added 10 in the loss for Wisconsin, their fifth in the last six games.  Wisconsin hosts Minnesota in the regular season finale on Sunday, tipoff time is set for 5pm.

With the Badgers’ loss, Purdue clinches the Big Ten regular-season championship outright. The Boilermakers will have the #1 seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament.

–Brewers face the LA Angels on the road today in Cactus League play.

The Green Bay Packers are increasing season ticket prices for the coming season. The Packers said Thursday that season-ticket prices will increase $7 across the board. That means an increase of $49 per seat for the season for Green Package holders with six regular-season games and one preseason. For Gold Package buyers with two regular-season games and one preseason, the total increase will be $21 for the season. The Packers also included prices for a wild-card playoff game if they host one. Reports say this is the eighth consecutive season prices for tickets have increased.

Golf: Veterans Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood are among a six-way tie for the lead heading into the second round of the WGC Mexico Championship. Mickelson and Westwood opened with 4-under 67s, as did PGA champion Jimmy Walker, Torrey Pines winner Jon Rahm, Ryan Moore and Ross Fisher. Just one shot back is Rory McIlroy, who can go back to No. 1 in the world rankings with a victory.
