It was a great night for the Fond du Lac football team on Thursday as they thumped Wisconsin Rapids 49-13 in their regular season finale.  Junior Justin Maratik finished off an
impressive first drive for the Cardinals with a 5 yard TD run and the Cardinals
never looked back.  Maratik ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns in the
first half on 25 carries.  Senior QB Jack Nejedlo ran for a 39 yard TD and
threw touchdown passes of 5 yards to Mark Dilling and 68 yards to Bryan Luteyn
as Fondy built a 35-0 lead at the break.  Quinn Woelfel and Joe Kuber
added scoring runs of 5 and 4 yards respectively in the 4th quarter to finish off the Fondy
scoring. Nejedlo finished with 172 yards passing and 44 yards rushing. 
Woelfel had 83 yards on the ground and Brian Luteyn ended up catching 5 passes
for 115 yards and a TD.  With the win,Fond du Lac ends their regular season
at 8-1 overall and 6-1 in Valley Football Association South Division
play.  League leader Oshkosh North (8-0, 6-0) looks to win the outright
league title with a win at Marshfield on Friday
night.   Playoff pairings will come out on Saturday.  Fondy will
most likely be a #1 or #2 seed and host a first round playoff game on Friday,
October 24that Fruth Field.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450

senior Nicole Feltz went
1-1 at the WIAA State Girls Tennis Tournament in Madison on Thursday.  Feltz beat Rina Niehoff of Waukesha South 6-0,
6-1 in her opening match before falling to Neenah’s Jenny Price 6-4, 6-3.  Feltz season ends at 27-3.

 

Travis Ishikawa’s walk-off
three run homer gave San Francisco a 6-3 win
over St. Louis and
a trip to the World Series.  The Giants
win the best of seven series 4 games to 1. 
Game one of the World Series is Tuesday night in Kansas City.

cornerbacks sat out practice again on Thursday as the team gets ready for the
Carolina Panthers at Lambeau.  Tramon
Williams continues to nurse a bad ankle and Sam Shields a bum knee. Both sat
out practice on Thursday.   Mike McCarthy
says those guys could still play on Sunday even if they don’t see much action
on the practice field.  Sunday’s game
kicks off at Noon on KFIZ. Coverage begins at 10am.
