WBCA All-State Teams Announced:
Congratulations to area baseball players who were named to the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-State teams over the weekend. Fond du Lac’s Austin Wagner earned second team honors, Waupun’s Drew Behling was named 3rd team All-State, while Mayville’s Jacob Schellpfeffer and Campbellsport’s Sonny Johnson were named Honorable Mention All-State. Oakfield’s Johnny Bovee and Campbellsport’s Koy Walsh were named to the Academic All-State team.

–AJ Lewis went 2 for 4 with a double and scored four runs as the Dock Spiders defeated the Chinooks on Sunday afternoon. Fondy is off today and takes part in a day-night/home-away doubleheader with Green Bay on Tuesday.

–A pair of solo home runs in the 6th inning were all the Brewers needed to pull out a win over San Diego on Father’s Day at Miller Park. Hernan Perez and Manny Pina each left the park in the 6th, and quality start from Jimmy Nelson on the hill helped the Brewers win the series vs. San Diego. Nelson tossed a complete game, allowing one run on six hits and striking out 10. The Brewers open a four game series with Pittsburgh tonight at Miller Park, pregame coverage starts at 6:05 on KFIZ.

–The Timber Rattlers close the first half of the regular season with a 26-42 record and on a current 10-game losing streak. The Rattlers are off for the All-Star break until Thursday.
Golf: Brooks Koepka is your champion at the 117th US Open held at Erin Hills. Koepka extended the streak of players winning their first major to 7. He shot a final round 5-under par 67 to finish 16-under for his four rounds, 1-shot off the U.S. Open record. Hideki Matsuyama and Brian Harman tied for 2nd, finishing four shots back. Steve Stricker shot a final round 69 to finish in a tie for 16th overall, Mequon’s Jordan Niebrugge shot a final round 71 to finish at one-over par for the tournament, tied for 35th.
