For the 2^nd straight season, San Francisco knocked the Packers out of the
playoffs.    This time Phil Dawson kicked
a 33-yard field goal as time expired to advance with a 23-20 win.  The Packers and Niners went back and fourth
trading leads.  Green Bay took a 17-13 lead on a John Kuhn TD
with 12:06 left in the 4^th quarter. San Francisco answered with a TD as Vernon
Davis caught a 28 yard TD pass.  Green
Bay looked like they might rally to take the lead but they couldn’t punch it in
with a 1^st and goal at the 9 and settled for a field goal to tie the
game at 20.  The Niners marched down the
field and won it as time expired. Collin Kaepernick burned Green Bay on the ground with 98 yards rushing
including some big runs to keep drives alive. 
Eddie Lacy ran for 81 yards to lead the Packers.  Aaron Rodgers threw for 188 yards as the
Packers go home earlier than they had hoped again.

College football will crown the final national champion in
the BCS era tonight as #1 Florida State takes on #2 Auburn
in Pasadena.   Next season they will hold a four team
playoff to crown a champion.

 

The University of Texas has hired Louisville’s
Charlie Strong as their new head coach replacing Mack Brown.

 

The Badger men’s basketball team is 15-0 for the first time
in 100 years after a 75-71 win over Iowa the Kohl Center.  With the Hawkeyes leading by 2 in the 2^nd
half, head coach Fran McCaffery when nuts, going after and official in a wild
sequence that got him ejected.  Wisconsin made 5 of 6
free throws and never looked back.  The 4^th
ranked Badgers were led by Ben Brust with 19 points.

 

With Mother Nature shutting down all high school athletic
events scheduled for tonight have been postponed including the Fond du Lac boys
basketball game with West Bend West which was scheduled to be broadcast on
KFIZ.  We’ll let you know when they
announce a makeup date.
