NCAA Tournament

Both Wisconsin and Marquette had their tickets punched to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.  The Badgers fell to Ohio State 50-43 in the Big Ten Championship Game and the a short time later found out they were a #5 seed in the West Region.  The Badgers will play #12 seed Mississippi, who won the SEC Tournament.  That game will tip at 11:40am in Kansas City.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Marquette gets a #3 seed in the East Region and will play #14 seed Davidson at 2:10pm on Thursday in Lexington, Kentucky.  Louisville is the #1 overall seed, with Indiana, Gonzaga, and Kansas getting the other top seeds.  The tournament begins on Tuesday night with four first round games.

 

Green Bay Women

The UW-Green Bay women won the Horizon League Tournament 54-38 over Loyola.  It’s their 3rd straight conference tournament title and they will be making their 5th straight NCAA Women’s Tournament.

 

Bucks Rally For Win

The Milwaukee Bucks scored 45 points in the 4th quarter and beat Orlando 115-109.  Monta Ellis scored 39 points and Ersan Illyasova added 20 in the win.  The Bucks host Portland on Tuesday night.  The NBA also fined Bucks forward Larry Sanders $50,000 for ripping the officials after the loss to the Heat on Friday night.

 

Brewers

The Dodgers pounded the Brewers 11-1 on Sunday in Cactus League play.  Yovani Gallardo gave up 5 hits and 3 earned runs in 2 innings of work.  The Brewers send Marco Estrada to hill today against Cleveland.

 

WBC

Puerto Rico advanced to the World Baseball Classic Final with a 3-1 win over Japan.  The Netherlands play the Dominican Republic tonight.

 

Packers Free Agents

Gregg Jennings official signed his five-year, $47.5 million dollar deal with the Vikings over the weekend.  Tight end Tom Crabree also got a 2-year deal with the Tampa Bay Bucs.  Reports say the Packers and Steelers have interest in former Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw.

 

NASCAR

Kasey Kahne won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol on Sunday.  Kyle Busch was 2nd.
