The Brewers got it going against the St. Louis Cardinals as they prevailed with a 7 to 4 win. Aramis Ramirez got in his groove as he hit a home run and an RBI double off Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright. Wily Peralta won his 13th game to tie for the National League lead and Jonathan Lucroy‘s bases-clearing double chased Wainwright in a four-run sixth inning that put Milwaukee up by six. Peralta (13-6) allowed two runs and five hits in 6 2-3 innings to win his fourth straight start. Here’s Lucroy on Wainwright’s day…. The Brewers are now three games ahead of the Cardinals. Scores around the NL central yesterday; the Reds beat the Marlins 5 to 2, the Pirates beat the diamondbacks 9 to 4, and the Cubs beat the Dodgers 8 to 2.
The Badgers open up training camp this weekend in Madison. Wisconsin has their sights set on a Big Ten Western Division championship and a return to the Big Ten Title Game. Melvin Gordon has raised a lot of Heisman hype….we can see the Badgers first in action on August 30th as they will take on LSU.
The Green Bay Packers might be losing rookie receiver Jared Abbrederis for the season because of a knee injury. The fifth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin, finished practice Thursday but sat out Friday morning. The Packers’ initially diagnosed Abbrederis’ injury as a torn ACL, which is a season-ending injury. However, Abbrederis was scheduled for further medical tests to confirm. Abbrederis was fighting for the 5th roster spot at wide receiver this training camp.
The Packers offensive line has drawn a lot of hype of being the best in 10 years. A lot of guys have experience now and some are returning from injury. Here Josh Sitton on the O-line….
