Travis Diener is
coming back to Wisconsin.  After 5 years in the NBA and four more season
in Italy, Fond du Lac native Travis Diener has retired
from basketball and will take the job as Director of Player Personnel with the
Marquette Basketball Program.  Diener had
an All-American career at Marquette after
graduating from Fond du Lac
Goodrich in 2001.  He was drafted in the
2^nd round of the 2005 NBA Draft by Orlando and spent time with the Pacers and
Trailblazers before going overseas.

 

The Brewers
picked up a 3-1 win over the Mets in New
York on Wednesday night.  Wily Peralta gave up 1 run and 4 hits over
six and a third innings to notch the win.

The New York
Rangers stayed alive in the Stanley Cup Finals with a 2-1 win over the LA Kings
on Wednesday night.   The Kings still
lead the series 3-1.  Game 5 is Friday in
Los Angeles.

 

The NBA Finals
continue tonight in Miami as the Heat host San Antonio.  The Spurs lead the best of seven series 2-1.

 

Today is day #1
of the U.S..Open
at Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina.  Wisconsin
natives’ Steve Stricker and Mark Wilson are in the field.  Tiger Woods is sitting out as he continues to
recover from back surgery.  Justin Rose
is the defending champion. 

 

The World Cup
begins in Brazil today as
the host country takes on Croatia.  The United
State will open up pool play on Monday
when they take on Ghana.

 

The WIAA Softball tournament
begins today in Madison.  Laconia
takes on Mishicot today at 1:30pm in a Division Three Semifinal.  Oakfield will be playing on a D4 semifinal on
Friday morning when they take on Assumption at 9am.

There will be a ceremony and celebration at Rolling Meadows Golf Course tonight about 7:30pm to honor WLA’s Chris Colla who won the WIAA Division Two State Golf Meet earlier this week and also St. Mary’s Springs players Patrick Treichel Brady Sarauer who also competed in the meet.  The public is welcome to attend.
