Vince Young
Veteran quarterback Vince Young was at practice Tuesday for the Packers. The 30-year-old QB hasn’t played in a game since December of 2011 with Philadelphia and says he was a bit rusty during the first day of drills. Young says he had multiple offers on the table to return but felt Green Bay was the best spot to restart his career. Young was the 3rd overall pick by Tennessee in the 2006 NFL draft and has a 31-19 record as a starter in the NFL.
Jordy Nelson
Packers WR Jordy Nelson will miss the rest of training camp after having knee surgery on Monday. Nelson has been bothered by a nerve issue in his knee since college and finally had it corrected. Head coach Mike McCarthy hopes he’s ready for the regular season.
Left Tackle
The Packers had rookie David Bakhtiari working with the first team at left tackle just days after Bryan Bulaga went down with what looks like a season ending knee injury. Bulaga wanted a second opinion on his knee that he injured in the Family Night Scrimmage before being shut-down for the season. Bakhtiari, a 4th round pick out of Colorado, has been impressive in drills during training camp and has made just one mental error in all of the offensive installation sessions. For now, Marshall Newhouse and Don Barclay will remain on the right side and battle for that tackle spot.
Manziel In Trouble
Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel is in some hot water. An autograph brokers says that he paid the Texas A&M QB $7,500 to sign autographs. The NCAA is investigating and he could be suspended or ruled ineligible.
