Ledgers Ready For Title Game
St. Mary’s Springs is getting ready for Thursday’s WIAA Division Six State Championship Game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison against Eau Claire Regis. Both teams are unbeaten at 12-0. You’ll hear the game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ and streaming at kfiz.com. Coverage begins at 12:05pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show. The kickoff is set for 1pm.
Viking Boys Win Opener
The WLA boys basketball team escaped Campbellsport with a 33-31 season opening victory on Tuesday night. The Vikings led by 13 midway through the 4th quarter before Jordan Dreikosen drillled three, 3-pointers to cut the lead to 2. WLA didn’t make their free throws and a potential game winning top of the key three-pointer by Campbellsport rimmed out at the buzzer. Ben Wolff led WLA with 10 points. Maustin Otterstatter added 6. Campbellsports Jorden Dreikosen scored 9 of his game high 11 points in the fourth quarter. WLA will travel to Manitowoc Lutheran next Tuesday. Campbellsport heads to Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Friday night.
Golden Eagles Win
Marquette had to grind out a 64-53 win over Southeastern Louisiana at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Tuesday night. Davante Gardner led the Golden Eagles with 18 points. Buzz Williams’ squad will face Butler on Monday in Hawaii in the first round of the Maui Invitational. They will face either North Carolina or Mississippi State on Tuesday and play a third game on Wednesday.

The Miami Marlins are cleaning house, sending shortstop Jose Reyes, pitchers Mark Buhrle and Josh Johnson, catcher John Buck, and utility man Emilio Bonificalio to the Blue Jays in exchange for The Blue Jays are sending shortstop Yunel Escobar and six other players.

Senior forward Megan Sessing-Gomoil Megan Sesing-Gomoll had a pair of impressive performances last weekend that led to being selected as the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 13, the league office announced today. This is the first such honor for Sesing-Gomoll, who totaled five points in the first-ever series sweep for Marian women’s hockey. The Fond du Lac native enjoyed a pair of breakout performances for the Sabres, accounting for four goals and an assist in two 5-1 victories over Finlandia. Sesing-Gomoll scored twice in each contest and accomplished the rare feat of scoring two short-handed goals in the series finale.
