SSM Health supporting We EmpowHER Women’s Empowerment Series

SSM Health is giving $10,000 to We EmpowHER, Inc., to help support its Women’s Empowerment Series, a transformative opportunity for women to connect, grow, and overcome life’s challenges through a series designed to support women facing crises, undergoing major life transitions, or seeking personal growth.
“The series empowers participants by providing a peer mentor to guide them through life’s ups and downs, helping them unlock their full potential and create their best life,” according to Theresa Menting, We EmpowHER and Women’s Empowerment Series executive director. “Participants get the opportunity to be paired with a peer mentor while also getting to know other local women in a safe, positive, and supportive environment.”
The weekly sessions include topics like trauma-informed parenting, education & resume building, health & fitness, self-care, domestic violence recognition and prevention, addiction, and more. Each session has a different topic with various local experts who generously donate their time and are there to encourage and support participants.
We EmpowHER, Inc. provides women and children with a safe, supportive community where participants are encouraged and empowered to engage in year-round programming, utilize community resources and embrace the best versions of themselves as valued community members.
“We EmpowHER and the Women’s Empowerment Series help to increase women’s and girls’ capacity to make their own choice and transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes,” according to Elle Yeates, SSM Health Mission Integration regional director. “We know that when women are empowered, they are more likely to have a voice in their community, access jobs and resources, and have better economic opportunities. We appreciate all the ongoing efforts by We EmpowHER to be a local advocate for women.”

In 2024, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac’s community benefit ministry totaled more than $568,000 across the communities it serves. This investment helps ensure access to health care for patients who are uninsured or underinsured, train the next generation of health professionals to care for those in need, and fund programs to address the most pressing health needs of our communities.
