Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive takes in nearly 15 tons of food in Fond du Lac

The National Association of Letter Carriers will be conduct its 34th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Stamp Out Hunger has become the nation’s largest one-day campaign to collect food for distribution to needy families, with millions of pounds of food collected nation-wide.

Since its inception the program has collected nearly 2 billion pounds of non-perishable food for communities throughout the country and in Puerto Rico, Guam, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a statement put out by the organization, they say food insecurity affects a part of every county in the United States, with more than 34 million people affected, including nine million children and over five million seniors.

Locally, customers are instructed to leave non-perishable food donations in a bag that was delivered to them a few days prior. Then on Saturday, their letter carrier would collect the food.

Food collected during Saturday’s drive will be delivered to local Wisconsin community churches, food banks and food pantries for distribution.

The food collected this weekend will help these organizations through the summer months, which can be especially hard for kids when school meals are not available.

This year in Fond du Lac, 29,519 pounds of food was collected.

Pantries receiving food this year are Fondy Food Pantry, Broken Bread, Hope on the Block, Church of Peace, Pantry of Hope, Solution Center and the Salvation Army.
