State Legislator Rips DNR Over Deer Rescue on Frozen Lake
A state legislator is ripping the DNR after they allegedly forced firefighters to rescue a deer that was stranded on a frozen lake in western Wisconsin.
Representative Adam Jarchow claims a DNR warden “harassed” firefighters into rescuing the deer on Balsam Lake – adding that he would fire the warden for “being complicit in putting firefighters at risk, over a stupid deer.”
The fire department reportedly told the Polk County Sheriff’s Department that they did not want to put firefighters at risk – but they later complied when the DNR called in the favor. The fire chief would not comment on the discussion and DNR officials have not commented on the case.
