Stolen vehicles recovered after short pursuit and crash in Fond du Lac Friday morning

City of Fond du Lac Police were involved in an early morning short pursuit this morning around 4 am which resulted in the capture of one person while police continue to search for a second person.

A vehicle wanted in a separate incident was spotted by police and they pulled the vehicle over just south of the intersection of Johnson and Prairie. The driver initially pulled over but as the officer got out of their vehicle to approach, the driver took off.

After travelling a short distance south on Prairie Road, the driver crashed at Division Street and the occupants took off on foot.

After saturating the area officers found one of the two occupants of the vehicle, a male who said the other person was a female. Officers searched the area with a drone and K9 but were unable to find the second person.

It’s unknown what the vehicle was wanted for which caused the initial traffic stop. KFIZ will add to this story as information is released.

Law enforcement made contact with the vehicle’s registered owner and learned the vehicle had been stolen.

The following is a press release from the Fond du Lac Police Department regarding the incident.

In the early morning hours of Friday, November 7, 2025, Fond du Lac Police Officers recovered two stolen vehicles and took two juvenile suspects into custody following a brief pursuit and coordinated search effort.

At approximately 3:57 a.m., an FDLPD Officer was dispatched to the Comfort Inn (77 Holiday Lane) for a report of a stolen Dodge Ram pickup truck. Using the City’s Flock Safety camera system, FDLPD Officers located a recent alert for the stolen vehicle near East Johnson Street and Highway 151.

FDLPD Officers immediately saturated the area and located the truck traveling westbound on East Johnson Street. When Officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield and turned south onto North Prairie Road. As the pursuit began, a silver sedan traveling ahead of the truck also pulled over. The stolen truck then drove around the sedan and fled.

A few blocks later, the truck struck a curb near East Division Street, ending the pursuit with minor vehicle damage. Two individuals fled on foot. Officers quickly established a perimeter and launched a drone to assist in the search. The driver of the stolen truck, a 17-year-old Fond du Lac male was located near Ledgeview Lanes and taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance.

FDLPD Officers returned to the abandoned sedan and discovered it had also been stolen overnight from the 100 block of South Bell Street, though the theft had not yet been reported. Inside the vehicle, Officers located a cell phone and bank card belonging to another suspect. At approximately 7:52 a.m., FDLPD Officers located and arrested the second suspect, also a 17-year-old Fond du Lac male, in the 100 block of South Boardman Street.

Both suspects were transported to the Fond du Lac Police Department for questioning. The investigation remains ongoing.

Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “These were crimes of opportunity where vehicles were left unlocked with keys inside. They were entirely preventable. We urge everyone to take simple, consistent steps to protect their property: remove your keys, lock your vehicles, and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight. A few seconds of prevention can save hours of frustration, loss, and unnecessary risk. Keeping our community safe starts with each of us doing our part.”

The Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Fond du Lac Fire Rescue during this incident.
