Sturgeon Spectacular is back… with one big change

The Sturgeon spearing season is two weeks away which means Fond du Lac’s Sturgeon Spectacular Festival is right around the corner as well. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival and organizers say they have lots planned for the weekend.

Fond du Lac Festivals Executive Director, and event organizer Peter Wilke says this year, things will be consolidated to one area rather than two.

“We’re able to put all our resources, energy and time into one spot to create that great festival atmosphere which was difficult to do in past years because we had events at Lakeside Park and downtown. So to have everything downtown and not lose any of the events… it’s exciting to see this festival grow”

Festival activities include the return of the crowd favorite ice sculpting contest which this year includes a high school ice sculpting competition. An outdoor floor curling tournament, a Snow Land kids play area, adult and kids entertainment options, mini bonfires, Sturgeon Show-off Station and Shanty Village, horse-drawn carriage rides.

The Thelma Center For The Arts will have the musical, Guys on Ice, and and throughout the downtown district, participating locations will be featuring a Chili Crawl, and a Sweet Stroll, and there will also be the “Art of the Bloody Mary” Contest. Sturgeon Spectacular runs February 7th through the 9th.
