Sunday Marks 25th Anniversary Of Oakfield Tornado

Sunday marks the 25^th anniversary of the Oakfield Tornado – an E-F-5 tornado that hit the village on July 18^th, 1996.  

This year, the Oakfield community is holding a day full of events and celebration as they look back on the 25^th anniversary, and how far the village has come since the tornado.  

Owen Stoppleworth is with the Oakfield Area Historical Society – he tells KFIZ News the whole community is coming together to make this day possible.  

“We kind of decided let’s make this a community day, a community event. Almost all of the organizations in Oakfield are going to have something going on, whether it’s a parade float or their own event. I think we have 11 different things going on that day. So it’s going to be a pretty action-packed day.”

Sunday’s events include a parade at Noon featuring the “Echoes of Camp Randall Marching Band”, an Ice Cream Social put on by the Historical Society, and plenty more.
