Suspected drunk driver leads Fond du Lac authorities on high speed pursuit overnight

One person was taken into custody early Friday morning, June 19, 2026, after a brief pursuit in southern Fond du Lac County.

At 2:43 a.m., a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes of 151 near Highway 49.

After briefly losing sight of the vehicle, it was again found going south on the south frontage road off of Highway 26.

The driver failed to yield for the deputy’s lights and siren and a pursuit was engaged.

After going south on Mill Road, the driver turned east on Oak Center Road, reaching speeds of 130 miles per hour.

After a couple miles, the driver slowed to a stop near Stumpf Road and was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as a 23-year-old male from Waupun. He was taken into custody on Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Operating while under the influence, and several traffic citations.

According to deputies on the scene, the vehicle had sustained recent damage and they were searching the area for a recent crash the driver may have been involved in.
