Suspects rams squad cars, on the run in frigid weather wearing shorts caught after 6 hours outside

Law enforcement in Fond du Lac County were involved in yet another high speed pursuit Wednesday night, December 18, 2024.

At 11:06 PM, a City of Fond du Lac officer attempted to stop a vehicle for not having a front plate. The vehicle accelerated going west on Thomas Street and then north on Boardman and eventually Walnut street. The driver made it to the dead end of Walnut, but that didn’t stop him. Driving through a lawn, the driver then turned west on to Johnson Street.

Due to reckless driving, the officer terminated the pursuit.

With officers saturating the area, the vehicle was again spotted by a North Fond du Lac Officer west on Winnebago Avenue. The driver continued west until he encountered another dead end at the end of Coyne Road at the Eldorado Marsh. At this point, the driver turned around and struck a North Fond du Lac officer head on. Officers used their squads to box the vehicle in, but the driver managed to get out and started driving north into tall grass in a field.

The vehicle eventually got stuck and the driver got out on foot and ran. Using a police K9 and thermal imaging drones, police looked for the man for almost two hours, but were unable to locate him. Officers found where the car became stuck and found evidence of other crimes inside.

Around 5:40 AM Thursday morning, the dispatch center received several calls of a man matching the description of the person in the chase walking with only a t-shirt and shorts on with no shoes. Officers found the man and took him into custody.

He was brought to the hospital to be checked over due to being in the cold weather for over six hours.
