Swatting incident draws heavy police response in Oshkosh Monday
Oshkosh Police are investigating a swatting incident that brought multiple law enforcement agencies to a home Monday afternoon.
Police were called to the 2000 block of Menominee Drive around 4:14 Monday afternoon, September 14, 2026, after a 911 caller claimed he had shot his girlfriend and was holding another person at gunpoint.
Oshkosh Police, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and UW-Oshkosh Police responded.
Officers contacted the homeowner, who said no one else should be inside. The home was searched, and police found no evidence of a homicide or weapons-related incident.
Police say the call was a hoax, known as swatting. Investigators say there is no danger to the public, and the investigation remains ongoing.
