Teen driver in fatal crash makes initial court appearance
The teen driver who crashed in the northeast part of the county last weekend, killing another teen, made her initial court appearance in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
16-year-old Madylin Michelle Blonigen of Sheboygan is charged with Knowingly Operating a Motor Vehicle – Causing Death and two counts of Causing Great Bodily Harm. Judge Laura Lavey set bond at $5,000 with numerous non-monetary conditions.
Additional charges are anticipated as further evidence becomes available.

On Saturday, June 13, at approximately 7:17 pm, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel responded to a single vehicle rollover crash, with injuries and one fatality, On County Highway HH.
Investigation showed the vehicle struck a culvert, launched into the air, struck a pole, and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest on its side and on top of one of the passengers, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Blonigen admitted to consuming THC from a vape cartridge pen “before” the crash and indicated that THC consumption occurred between going to two residences that night. Four vape pens were recovered as evidence during the investigation, with one suspected to contain THC and the other three pens suspected of containing nicotine.
Blonigen denied any alcohol use prior to the crash. A blood sample was taken at the hospital and submitted for further analysis
