Tens of Thousands Without Power After Ice Storm In State
Alliant Energy and WE Energy are reporting more than 45,000 customers without power in Rock, Walworth, Racine and Kenosha Counties in the extreme southern part of the state where most of the precipitation from a potent winter storm fell as freezing rain.
WE energies, who has about 35,000 of that total, has announced it has crews coming up from Kentucky to assist in restoring power to customers.
Governor Evers has declared an Energy Emergency for the state.
The executive order will allow for a more swift and efficient restoration of any electric power outages throughout the state,” Evers said.
It allows for more flexibility for in-state and out-of-state utility workers to help restore power in Wisconsin, providing waivers from federal and state requirements.
