Thiesfeldt Pleased With FDL FD’s HazMat Status Promotion

State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt is applauding the Joint Finance Committee’s decision Tuesday approving a promotion change in status for the Fond du Lac Fire Department to a Type III HazMat team.  Thiesfeldt and Senator Rick Gudex of Fond du Lac both urged the change to the committee in early April.  As a result of this higher level of service to the Northeast region the department will be receiving nearly $25,000 in state funding. Representative Thiesfeldt stated, “I was pleased to see the Fond du Lac Fire Department will be receiving additional funding to go along with their new designation as a Type III HazMat team.  If an incident involving hazardous materials were to happen, we will now have quicker response times from our trained men and women.  I would like to congratulate the Fond du Lac Fire Department for taking on this new responsibility.” This decision came after Dodge County decided to opt out of performing level III services.
