Thousands without power in state and dozens of crashes and cars in ditch due to storm
The winter storm passing through dropped several inches of wet snow on Fond du Lac County yesterday, Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Because of the weight of the snow, coupled with high winds, multiple calls came into the Fond du Lac County Communications Center for trees and wires down throughout the county. As of this morning, there are still sporadic power outages in the county but Alliant Energy is working to restore those that had power knocked out. According to the website poweroutages.us, Fond du Lac County still has over 600 electrical customers without power, while counties in northeast Wisconsin are faring much worse than us.
As of 5 AM this morning a reported 81,000 customers were still without power with Door and Menomonie Counties each having about 75% of customers without power.
Drivers on area roads didn’t do much better in the storm. The city and county had a combined 84 calls between the hours of 2 and 10 PM yesterday for crashes, cars in the ditch and stuck vehicles.
