Three Arrested In String Of Area Vehicle Thefts

A string of vehicle thefts and entries over the last month in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Winnebago and Outagamie counties have been investigated and solved according to law enforcement.

Dodge County sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a press release that with a coordinated effort between law enforcement agencies in the affected counties, three suspects were named and taken into custody.

On the morning of June 27, a suspect was taken into custody in Fond du Lac County, where he remains, pending charges there. Schmidt said it is believed that this suspect is the leader of the theft ring. Two other suspects of the same group were taken into custody in the Fox Valley area and have charges pending.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect that was taken into custody in Fond du Lac County was the person arrested after a high speed pursuit in and around Fond du Lac last Wednesday when Winnebago County notified Fond du Lac County that a stolen car was headed south on 41 entering Fond du Lac County.

After going back and forth on Rolling Meadows a few times, the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered a wooded area where he was taken into custody.

All the vehicles that were taken in Dodge County have been recovered at this point. Investigations continue into recovering additional stolen property.
