Three Vehicle Crash On Highway 49 Injures Three

At approximately 6:10 pm on On Sunday, February 19, 2023, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 49 east of County Highway YY in the town of Leroy in northern Dodge County.

Initially Brownsville Fire Department and Mayville Ambulance were called to the scene of the crash. Upon seeing the injuries, Fond du Lac Ambulance was called as a paramedic intercept as well as Flight for Life and Thedastar Medical helicopters.

Initial investigation shows a Kia Rio sedan driven by a Waupun woman was eastbound in the westbound lanes of State Highway 49 when it crashed into a westbound Kia sedan driven by another Waupun woman with a juvenile passenger. A westbound Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a Waupun man then crashed into the westbound Kia sedan.

The female driver of the first Kia was flown by Flight for Life helicopter to Aurora Hospital in Summit with serious non-life threatening injuries.

The female driver of the second Kia was transported by ambulance to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with serious non-life threatening injuries and the juvenile from her vehicle was taken by Thedastar helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries. The male driver was not injured.

State Highway 49 was closed for approximately three hours while emergency crews worked the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
