Thunderstorm Prompts Warning – Trees And Wires Down In Area

Severe storms raked across the area late yesterday afternoon.

At 6:25 PM the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Sheboygan County.

Around 6:45 north west Sheboygan County, southern Calumet County and north east Fond du Lac County were placed under a severe thunderstorm warning. About this same time, a shelf cloud was heading south about 30 miles in front of an advancing line of storms north of Oshkosh. This ominous shelf cloud passed over Fond du Lac bringing with it some gusty winds.

At 7:15, the storm to the north of Fond du Lac in Winnebago County went warned for hail and winds as high as 60 mph. That storm eventually went through central Fond du Lac County, prompting a severe thunderstorm warning there. Around 7:50 PM trees were reported down on Highway N and according to an officer, power was out in a good portion of the Village of North Fond du Lac.

By 8:15 PM the storm had weakened and the warning was allowed to expire but small hail was still being reported with the storm from Lamartine to south of Oakfield.

Around the area, Oshkosh, Elkhart Lake, Manitowoc, and Neenah all had reports of trees and wires down from the storms and 3/4 of an inch of rain was registered at the Fond du Lac County Airport.
