Two Deaths In Town Of Empire Ruled Murder Suicide

Two deaths at a residence on Golf Course Drive in the Town of Empire have been ruled a murder-suicide. The Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office completed autopsies on 62-year-old Mark Whitmore and his 27-year-old daughter Julia Whitmore. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says it was determined that Dr. Mark Whitmore strangled his daughter and then used a knife to kill himself.  No solid motive has been determined for the murder. Waldschmidt says there was nothing left behind to direct them to a motive for the homicide. Julia was wheelchair bound and had a disability that required constant care.  Dr. Whitmore was her primary caregiver, and the home health nurse that found her dead Friday morning was a caregiver that provided aid when he was away.
