Two in Country illegal officially charged with sex trafficking crimes stemming from Oakfield area incident

The mother of a 12-year-old girl and the man she accepted money from to allow him to sexually assault the child, have been officially charged in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.

The charges stem from an incident on May 18th when the 12 year old was able to escape from the captivity of the man who attempted to tie her up and blindfold her in the back of a van parked in the rural Oakfield area.

Elia Antonio and Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia made their initial court appearance Wednesday, May 29, 2024, and had cash bond set at $1 million each. The investigation reflects the defendants are illegally in the United States and ICE detainers have been placed on the defendants. Both defendants are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 7, at 2:00 p.m.

Antonio is charged with trafficking of a child, failure to protect a child and two counts of bail jumping.

Rocha Mejia is charged with 1st degree child sex assault, child enticement, false imprisonment and strangulation and suffocation.
