Two In Custody After Drugs Found During Traffic Stop Near Fond du Lac

On Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, at 7:03pm, a Sheriff’s K9 handler was patrolling Interstate 41 and observed an equipment violation on a vehicle that was traveling northbound on the Interstate.
The vehicle quickly exited on Hickory Street and the deputy conducted a traffic stop on the Hickory Street off-ramp from Highway 41.
During the duration of the traffic stop the K-9 handler deployed his police K-9 for an open air sniff of the vehicle and the K-9 alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was then searched and deputies located approximately one pound of cocaine and one pound of marijuana.
As deputies instructed the man to place his hand behind his back and attempted to place him in handcuffs, he became extremely agitated and pulled away from the deputies as they attempted to grab his arm. The man continued to be resistive and was not listening to the deputy’s commands. At this time the deputy retrieved his K-9 from the squad car again and instructed the man to place his hands behind his back. After seeing the police K-9, the man became cooperative and placed his hands behind his back and was taken into custody without further incident.
The two occupants of the vehicle are both being charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine (>40 grams), possession with intent to distribute THC (200-1000grams), and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
The man also was charged with one count of resisting/obstructing an officer and was placed on probation hold.
The man is currently on probation for previous convictions of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of THC with intent to distribute.
