Two injured as result of high speed pursuit crash in Fond du Lac County

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 12:42pm, The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received calls of a vehicle traveling southbound on I41 near Hwy 26 in Winnebago County that was traveling in excess of 100mph and passing vehicles on the shoulder.

The Fond du Lac County Communications Center also received information that a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper had attempted to catch up to the vehicle to stop it, but was unsuccessful.

After multiple officers converged in the Fond du Lac area to look for the vehicle, a Sergeant with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle driving at excessive speeds southbound on Highway 175 near County Highway B in the Township of Byron.

As the Sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect accelerated, leading to a pursuit. The vehicle continued traveling southbound on County Highway B at a high rate of speed.

As it entered the intersection of Highway 175 and County F, it sideswiped a tanker truck trailer hauling milk, entered the west ditch of 175 and struck a telephone pole.

The driver, a 25-year-old Waukesha man, attempted to run from the scene of the crash but was taken immediately into custody. The driver and a female passenger both sustained minor injuries and were transported from the scene by City of Fond du Lac Paramedics.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will be filing charges of Felony Eluding and First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety against the suspect involved in the pursuit. The pursuit spanned a total of 2.6 miles. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Fond du Lac County Highway Department, and the City of Fond du Lac Paramedics.
