Two Local Teams Advance To State Softball

The Laconia Spartans and Oakfield Oaks girls softball team both advance to the WIAA state tournament in Madison next week with impressive victories.

Laconia who finished third in the Flyway Conference during the regular season and has gotten hot in the playoffs blew away Shoreland Lutheran 16-0. Lilly Schutlz drove in 5 runs including a grand slam. Callista Vandeberg also hit a homerun and Addison Mauer went 4 for 4.

Laconia’s seed will be announced soon but possible game times for Laconia at Goodman Field in Madison:

Semifinals – Friday, June 7

10 a.m.      Game 1 –  #1 Seed vs. #4 Seed
12 p.m.      Game 2 –  #2 Seed vs. #3 Seed

Championship Game – Saturday, June 8

1 p.m.         Game 3 – Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2

Oakfield who won the Trailways North Conference going 16-0 on the season traveled to Belmont to take on Barneveld and they beat the Eagles in a shutout 3-0. Impressive pitching on the mound in the game by Aly Lamonska.

8:30 p.m.    Game 1 – #1 Seed vs. #4 Seed
8 a.m.          Game 2 – #2 Seed vs. #3 Seed

8 a.m.          Game 3 – Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2
